Aim on Paper

To Aim. A daily endeavor towards a goal that can only be seen in the far distance, wanting to bring it closer into our lives. Why? Because it may change our tomorrows. In essence, aiming is the hope of a different life because where we stand it seems to be missing a piece.

For me the relentless aiming, to be honest, is because it feels that there is still unexplored potential left inside my human sinfulness being, knowing that if I aim and reach into the distance the door will open revealing the breathtaking view. I've long struggled with the lie contained in aiming. An invisible voice audible saying "Do you not like where you are or appreciate what you already have?" What a tough critic the mind and fear can be. So tough on the aiming human often stopping us short of ever aiming. Wanting to convince of ungratefulness.

Aiming can reach a point of never enough. A dangerous place to be. Have I been there? It has felt like it...

I have often stood in front of the people I adore with my head bowed down. Asking for confirmation that it is still ok to aim. May I still try and write that book, finish the studies. Wanting to see my family flourish.

I write to you about aiming because you deserve the thrill, at times even the disappointment of giving your all but falling just short, picking up the pieces and making the effort again of aiming and going for it.

What I am not saying is that you leave your job. If it is what is keeping the roof over your family and tummies full, aim to be even better at your job. Not to throw away what you have achieved for your family to date. But take an hour a day to aim at what else you see in the future for yourself, your family, and your community. Aim wildly into the future, write it down, and prepare to shoot. Shoot with wild abandon and at the same time be careful to maintain your balance and posture. Even if you aim by writing on a piece of paper with wild abandon using colors. Or with the grey pencil "sharpy" we all know so well. Make it yours! Sketch out your vision for the future, your beautiful vision for yourself and your loved ones. It all starts with you starting to aim.

With love always,

Monique
