Presence in a breeze

Have you ever experienced greatness in a breeze? You may be asking me what I mean with greatness in a breeze. Let me share an experience Retha-Mari and I had while on a hike in Kranskoof situated just outside Rustenburg North West of South Africa.

The landscape with its unique rock formations and then the Kloof a deep gorge with a 50-meter drop on both sides with trees growing on the sides of the rocks anchoring there roots securely between rock. The kloof needs to be climbed at places, streams flowing at certain points along our hike. We were treated to another magical and beautiful hike. Together we walk and talk. Share experiences and sometimes concerns. Sharing our plans on how we are going to finish our postgraduate studies but always praising God for the beauty that surrounds us.

As we reached the end of the hike we approached an area with high trees on both sides of the rocky singletrack. It is a short walk through the trees but on that day as the sun was shining its last few minutes gave the light a breeze picked up at that moment. Retha-Mari walked but slower than usual, looking around. I could not step into the singletrack lined with high trees. Stopping in my tracks not being able to move forward. Not physically but spiritually. Closing my eyes I felt the presence in the softest most gentle breeze. Trying to capture the moment on video will hopefully give you a glimpse of the moment. I wish you could be there with us to feel it! A breeze with a presence. Brown away by the moment the experience I walked gingerly forward not wanting to move out or away. "Something happened just there," I tried to communicate with broken words. "I felt it too," Retha replied. A definite presence of the Almighty God.

I have grown up with one verse, giving hope when I wanted it all to end, one verse drawing me closer to His side, wanting to see another sunrise, allowing me to find joy in living again. The verse is, "And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13.

Join me in the new year. Let us seek God with our whole hearts in 2022. I am convinced we will find that He is right there, closer than what we may have ever thought, even in the breeze.
